Title: Ong Bak 2 The Beginning
Director: Tony Jaa
Starring: Tony Jaa, Nirut Sirijanya, Sorapong Chatri
Official website: www.ongbaktwo.com
Set in the regal times of King Naresuan, Tien, a man who was born into nobility but had it stripped from him after his parents were brutally murdered. During his childhood Tien learned Khon, a form of dance which is usually reserved for royalty. Although he didn’t know it yet, Khon would later prove to be an invaluable aide to him. After seeing his parents murdered at the tender age of 10, Tien is forced to live on the streets where he is eventually captured by a group of thieves who take him in and teach him how to steal and fight. Tien expertise as a thief and fighter grows and it isn’t long before he is made head thief. Then Tien sees something that makes his stomach churn. A competition is being held to find the best knights to serve under the very man who had killed Tien’s parents all those years ago. Tien passes the tests easily and is made Lord Rachasana’s 2nd Knight. Now, he has his opportunity to strike but he will have to use all his skill and ingenuity if he is going to get his revenge on the man who killed his parents.

I saw the film last night. It’s terrific with a great story and amazing action. Tony Jaa commands the screen with a towering performance. Given his much publicized recent problems, it’s great to see Jaa pull through with such a wonderful film. It will be major hit, I am sure

Although the action was good, the plotline is very boring. I dozed off after a while when they just went from one fight scene to the next for no particular reason. Don’t go to watch this movie expecting too much. If you are there just to enjoy the fight scenes then you will be happy. However, although the production values were higher than the average Thai movie, whoever wrote the plot and story outline should be fired. This is one of the most boring Thai movies of the year.

HAVE to ask, r there 2 versions of the film? i even saw 2 different movie posters for Ong Bak 2. Look up ong bak 2 on wikipedia, and read the plot, it states a similar yet different plot that I’m sure i didn’t watch. This trailer is for the one I watched, but i am asking, is there 2 versions of ongbak 2, or no? PLEASE HELP!

And do you know Thai maritial arts movies are immitating the styles of chinese kangfu action movies. Thai people are too much crazy for chinese Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee. When I was a child, I was ever immitating chinese kangfu action films, very fun. It is a truth. And I am a Thai who was immitating chinese actions in movies when I was 8 years old.

continued I am a Thai very proud of Thai’s progress in movie industry. But the truth is this style of movie is not a traditional Thai movie. I and Tony Ja shared the same behavior. Thai children, aged 8 or 9 years old, played by immitating Kangfu actions in chinese movies. So I am brave enough to give the credit for Thai successful industry to Kangfu chinese movies.

This movie is incredible…Its unedifying Thai movements and its well played…The ending was upsetting could have been ended in a different setting then just a plot line of words….but other then that I consider this movie to be one of my favorite action movie ever….. Tony Jaa outstanding

This movie is very well done. I had to come online and find out more about it. Attractive and fearsome stars, exciting soundtrack, good acting, fantastic filming, wow costumes, makeup, stunts and sets. Incredible fight scenes. Puts you there. Not easy to pull this quality off. And it appears the leading man is also directing. Superb. The fight scenes are just astounding. Little too scary for the wee ones. Sorry about the ending, though. Hope a sequel will end satisfactorily.
The version i saw told the story with several flash backs. Began with the boy being captured into slavery, then fighting an alligator, being trained in martial arts by pirate leader, having slight romance with orphan girl, being given the post of second in command of the pirates, becoming King of the elephants, rescuing slaves, searching out killer of his parents, finding the girl-a beautiful court dancer with his gift around her wrist in a five second recognition and finding out the shocking truth about who murdered his folks. Then black with white writing at the end asking for our prayers.
Very nicely done.
From an American grandma.
