New Thai Movies: 3rd September 2010

This week in Thailand there are three new Thai movies being released. They are: Agraian Utopia (Sawan Banna), Color’s Love (samarn chan) and From Pakse with Love (Sabaidee 2). The first one is a documentary and the other two are romantic comedies. Agraian Utopia is only being shown at the SF Emporium Cinema.

Agrarian Utopia (Sawan Banna)

Facing seizure of their own lands, two families found themselves farming together on the same field, hoping to get through just another rice-farming season like every year. But no matter how much the world is evolving, how much the country is going through economic, political and social changes, they still cannot grasp that ideology of happiness.  How can we dream of utopia while our stomach is still grumbling?

From Pakse with Love (Sabaidee 2)

This movie is a follow-up to the popular Sabaidee Luang Prabang. Ray McDonald is a photographer who is down on his luck when he travels to Pakse in Southern Laos to take on an assignment as a wedding photographer. There he meets a beautiful Lao woman who becomes his inspiration to write a movie script about a Thai-Lao romance. In real life, however, the photographer has a slim chance to win the heart of the woman who may already have a boyfriend.
